Chocolate Buttercream Icing

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter

  • 3-1/2 cups icing sugar

  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder

  • 4 tbsp heavy cream (or milk)

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 tsp salt

Directions

  • Beat the butter on medium speed until creamy (about 2 minutes).
  • Add icing sugar, cocoa powder, heavy cream, vanilla, and salt. Beat on low for 30 seconds, then increase to high speed for 1 minute.
  • Add more icing sugar or cocoa powder (1/4 cup) if frosting is too thin. Or more cream (tbsp) if frosting is too thick.
